Origin and Vision:

Against the slopes of Babylonstoren in the Hemel-en-Aarde just outside Hermanus, lies Jakob’s Vineyards, a small, family-owned vineyard and wine making concern that strives to make site-specific wines in true cool climate style. Owners André and Yvonne de Lange founded this winery in the newly established Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge ward on the principles of passion, excellence and simplicity, three core values they also strive to convey through their wine offering.

Intrigued by the unique confluence of art and science in the making and appreciation of fine wine, André, an attorney by profession, dreamt of making his own wine from an early age. In 2001, while still living in Johannesburg, André and his scientist wife Yvonne stumbled upon this small piece of land close to Hermanus. It was love at first sight. The couple decided to take the plunge and Jakob’s Vineyards was born from big ideas. Today the couple lives in Cape Town with their daughters Ilse and Thea.
